Lab Hours

I have been a total slacker this week and it`s all my fault and I feel awful. I did spend about an hour reading everyones posts and now feel terrible about not being able to make to the museum to help fabricate for the exhibit. I am totally willing and able to work in the museum during spring break, plus my mom will be in town, so I would have an extra set of hands to put to work. Hopefully she doesn`t mind.

Lab Hours

I spent 1 hour on Friday meeting with my group in order to make sure everyone was on the right path and trade ideas off each other concerning each others portion. Then I spent roughly 5 hours working on my portion of our project, writing up my explanatory pieces and researching more of the diactic pieces. Another part of that time was spent reading what my fellow group members had written and responding with my ideas about that. I can`t believe how much work everyone has put into this exhibit and I cannot wait to see it all come to life!

Lab Hours

Ok, so far the total for this week seems to be about 7. I met with my group for 3, researched at the Davis library for about 2, spent an 1 hour at the State Indian Museum with Raquel, where I learned that different caps require different colors and the microscopic medicine baskets were amazing!, spent about an 1 meeting we Dr. Castenda about group 4`s part of the prjoect.
My part of the project includes writing a summary of the class, getting pictures of classmates working with their objects (get ready for your 15minutes of fame Petres!) and displaying quotes from the class about putting together the exhibit.

Ok Marina, I really hope you see this! My portion of the story board has changed a little. I will be needed to display pictures of the class working with their object, a brief summary of what the class is all about and some quotes from the class about working with the collection. That`ll be on the first part of our wall following group 3`s area. If you have any questions about what you missed after you left, please don`t hesitate to call me. I have class at 530 tomorrow, but I`ll be available before then.

Lab Hours

Today Group 4, which includes me, spent 3 hours discussing our portion of the museum display. We divided up the work and even thought of some great things that could be added to the display in order to help those coming to the exhibit to understand the process of NAGPRA. I`m excited for Sunday when Raquel and I are going to visit the State Indian Museum to look around

Note: each team's storyboard theme is already somewhat defined in terms of life stages of the artifact (see original blog post on "exhibit process, " in which I envision the four teams based on the social biography of a single artifact). On your storyboard, you need to visually represent to me and the other teams (in draft text and miniature graphics) what concepts and materials you plan to use to interpret this stage. What is your DESIGN for your portion of the exhibit? What information do you want to convey and how? How do you plan to arrange your portion of the exhibit (i.e. what are you going to put on your portion of the gallery wall????).

lab hours

Why did I just spend the last 2 hours searching for information on Daisy Jacob and not finding anything? My old friend google has failed me. Google scholar did not fail me when it came to finding information on NAGPRA and dance caps. Setting up that information should come pretty easy once the group is all together and we figure out what it is exactly that we need to say.
